	Society	Description
	The Obesity Society (TOS)	Based in the United States, this scientific society is dedicated to the study of obesity in all its aspects. The Obesity Society is a scientific membership organization dedicated to improving people's lives by advancing the science -based understanding of the causes, consequences, prevention and treatement of obesity.
	The World Obesity Federation	An international organization focused on addressing the obesity crisis worldwide. They work with other global health organizations and promote research, policy, and action to combat obesity.
	European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO)	A European organization focused on the study of obesity and methods of treatment and prevention.
	Obesity Action Collition (OAC)	A U.S.based nonprofit organization dedicated to giving a voice to individuals affected by the disease of obesity and helping them along their journey toward better health.
	Australian and New Zealand Obesity Society (ANZOS)	A scientific organization dedicated to the understanding, prevention, and treatment of obesity in the Australian and New Zealand region. The Australian and New Zealand Obesity Society (ANZOS) is a scientific organization that brings together medical professionals, scientists, and other healthcare professionals to research and treat obesity. ANZOS supports the World Obesity Federation's statement that obesity is a chronic relapsing disease process
	Obesity Canada	A Canadian charity dedicated to reducing obesity through research, education, and advocacy. Obesity Canada is a leading organization in Canada that addresses the complex issue of obesity. They provide guidelines for healthcare professionals, offer educational programs, promote public awareness, and advocate for evidence-based policies.
	Asian Pacific Association for the Study of Obesity (APASO)	An organization focusing on addressing obesity issues in the Asia Pacific region. The Asia-Pacific Association for the Study of Obesity (APASO) is co-sponsored by the World Health Organization and the International Association for the Study of Obesity. The Asia-Pacific region has the highest number of overweight and obese people in the world. In the Asia-Pacific region, two out of every five adults are either overweight or obese.
	Obesity Australia	An organization focusing on changing the way society and government view and approach obesity. Obesity Australia is the legal entity and oversight body for the Collective for Action on Obesity (Obesity Collective). The Obesity Collective is the peak body for obesity in Australia. The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare has an overview page on overweight and obesity. According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 67% of Australian adults are overweight or obese. This is approximately 12.5 million adults. 36% are overweight but not obese, and 31% are obese.
	Brazilian Association for the Study of Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome (ABESO)	A Brazilian organization committed to addressing obesity in Brazil. The Brazilian Association for the Study of Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome (ABESO) is located in São Paulo, Brazil. In 2009, ABESO published the third edition of the Brazilian Guidelines on Obesity. In 2021, 22.4% of Brazilian adults were considered obese based on their body mass index (BMI). The Brazilian Ministry of Health launched the Brazilian Strategy for Prevention and Attention to Childhood Obesity (PROTEJA) in 2021 to stop the increase in childhood obesity.
